Also as always there was a big influx of trophies that where submitted at the awards, with Pete Morphett and Mark Wills worked hard with the tapes, scoring some quality heads from the members, most of the blame could thrown Adam Greentree’s way for this as he has done very well over the last few years, with some impressive Fallow bucks, some taken with his Recurve also, they scored 203 5/8, 195 1/8, 176, 172 5/8 DS, and also he took some very impressive Billies this year also with his traditional gear that went 115 6/8, 115, and 114 2/8 DS, very well done Adam!

Also one of our long time members Manuel Aguis has rated a excellent fallow buck that he took with his Longbow, a definite achievement, it scored 152 2/8 DS, and he managed to nail his PB Fox and Cat recently also, they went 10 2/16 and 7 6/16 DS, congratulations Manuel!

Well we cannot go to far with mentioning this guy, Mark Wills is well on the way to being back in the Bowhunting game, after he had an accident with a nail gun, he had to have a nail removed from his right (dominate eye) over 12 months ago, but he has successfully changed over to shooting left handed! So he started with a big target of course, a massive Red Stag was the first trophy this year that Mark put on the deck, and it scores big also 263 6/8 DS! Then he donned the 3D Camo and took a nice Chital Stag up north that went 140 1/8 DS and a Rusa Spiker from around home, then he went down with the Mexicans to chase a Sambar, and he took a spiker from 35 metres! That’s means he is only 2 of the species away from out of the 6 in one year, what can we say there’s nothing that can stop this dedicated bowhunter, well done Mark, as always!

Also one of TT newest members Jason Robinson from NSW rated and fine Fallow buck form this year also it scored and impressive 205 DS, well done Jason and welcome the Trophy Takers!

Also our much loved (or in love) rating director rated his PB fox as well, 10 1/16 DS Well done Mark!

The TT lists are expanding on a quite regular basis and also is its membership base, we have allot of new members in last few mouths, first off we start on the other side of Australia and a mad keen bowhunter and mate of Adam Greentree, Ben Chambers has joined the crew with a fine Billy 105 5/8 DS taken with his recurve, welcome and well done!

Steven Holgate has taken a nice Fallow buck late in the season, it scored 114 DS, as did Andrew Morrow will another good Fallow buck also late in the season, the Buck measured up at 178 2/8DS, well done guys!

New member Damian Gouveia has not been bowhunting for long and with advice from Mark Wills (good place to get advise from!) he has taken his first Rusa Stag, and its a beauty, it scored an impressive 195 5/8 DS! Beginner’s luck they say defiantly holds true to form, well done Damian and welcome to Trophy Takers!

Also Pete Morphett continues on his very lucky 07 deer season he has with taken a nice Rusa stag in difficult hunting conditions in the pre-rut, the Stag scored a respectable 162 2/8 DS, well done!

Jordy Appleby has been bowhunting a long time, but has only been supper keen after he been hunting all over the place with Pete Morphett for many years, now and has finally taken to plunge and joined and rated some quality animals, Jody being a mad pig hunter and taken quite few good boars over the years from the hills and could have rated many but one Boar that particularly stood out for Jordy has hit the books, it scored 26 4/8 DS, along with a 104 DS Billy taken from some time back, also he has been lucky and taken one of the top Fallow bucks in the rapidly expanding Fallow rating, this quality buck scored 205 1/8 DS and it is his PB, welcome to TT Jordy, good to see you on board, well done mate!

Antonio Lara and new member John Bates have taken one of the tougher deer species to get close too in recent months, they have both managed to take very good Chital Stags each! John’s was first to hit the deck on a separate hunting trip up north and it scored a very respectable 149 7/8 DS, not to be out done Antonio still dressed in his ever reliable Urban cams took his 156 4/8 DS Stag, very well done guys, a great achievement!

James (I can handle new technology) Warne has improved on his search for an ever, and ever larger Billy, even though it maybe only be a small amount the effort is always worth it, as he was trying to use his new hi tech digital camera to capture that moment in time of his 111 7/8 DS Billy, the old saying if all else fails read the instructions must be constantly running though his head, if he had only taken them with him!
Sadly to say that when he came time to download them there simply was nothing there, but I’m sure he will be up to speed on all the functions and operations of his new toy next time he travels west!

One of our oldest and founding members of TT Doug Church is 73 and his is still getting amongst them with his hunting mates Peter and Nathan Cocking shared another successful trip on the goats of late, the boys managed to down a few good billies ranging from 94 to 76 DS, well done guys, check out there places in the ratings on the Game Rated 07 page.

We also have some new members from the coast of N.S.W. that have joined TT with some good boars their names are Justin and Peter Eather and Kevin Dolbel. The boars all range from 27 to 23 DS, so check them out on the Game Rated 07 page also.

Welcome to Trophy Takers guys!

News 07/05/07

Well, where do we start, the deer season for many of TT members was defiantly something to remember with many quality deer taken over the last 2 months!

To start, one of our newest members to the Trophy Takers clan is a very experienced bow hunter for his age, his name is Casey McCallum from South Australia and he has just rated two very fine trophies with TT The first is a 120 1/8 DS Billy which he shot back in 2006 while he still was junior, and an even more impressive feat of 2007, Casey has managed to score himself a very impressive Fallow buck (his first also) of 212 4/8 DS and Macka as he likes to be called has only just turned 18!! Welcome to Trophy Takers Casey and congratulations!

Colin Moynihan also got off to a good start taking out a fine 196 5/8 DS Fallow buck while hunting with Chris Hervert in the first week on the Fallow season, well done Mono!

Peter Morphett also has spent a massive amount of time in the filed this year, after recovering from his knee operation, and spending large amounts of time on leg rehab and gym work so he would be fit and ready the Fallow season that has just passed, and it paid off he had one of the best Fallow seasons ever, with many trophy Fallow bucks falling over the two months, one of which he has rated and is his second best fallow buck to date, it scored a very nice 209 6/8 DS, well done Pete!

Well Andrew Morrow could well have had the best Fallow season, he has ever experienced also, after starting with a very nice 195 2/8 DS Buck! He continued his chase after one particular Fallow buck which has eluded him for the past two years, but Andrew finally put him on the deck, what a quality trophy it is, its final score off 212 DS is impressive considering it is missing a guard tine, and if it had a few more remaining palm points which it had been broomed off it would have easily slotted right into the number two spot!

Well after this top effort Andrew took one of our other TT members Danny Bajt out so he could try his luck, well this is one of those hunting trips that will last in their memories for a life time, with Danny shooting a personal best Fallow buck which took the number 4 spot it has scored a massive 218 6/8 DS!

Congratulations Andrew and Danny, very well done guys!

Also joining the TT ranks is one of Victoria’s most experienced deer hunters and a long time measurer for the ADA, his name is Trevor Willis and he has rated two personal bests with TT both where taken on the same hunting trip some time back, defiantly something that he will remember for a long time, first off he took one of the hardest deer species in the country to take with a bow and arrow, Trevor’s Chital scored a very nice 147 6/8 DS and a bonus of the trip was a 31 4/8 DS boar! Welcome to Trophy Takers Trevor and congratulations!

Well last but defiantly not lease the Southwell’s spent two weeks in hunting haven again over Easter this year, and even though they came home a little lighter in body weight from all the mountains, they came back full awesome memoires and swag of quality trophies!

Mark started the trip with a PB boar which scored 28 2/8 DS (with one side broken) then Paul took a fine 192 5/8 DS Fallow buck, and only a day or so later also took the first of two Red stags! The first went 187 7/8 and after winning a coin toss from his brother he secured the other massive bodied Red stag, it went 234 DS in the tough mountain conditions! Not to be left out Mark backed up with a fine Red stag of his own, it scored an impressive 203 4/8 DS!

Also the boys put a dent on the local Fox population with some impressive shooting, Paul managed to shoot three foxes within in 2 minutes off a carcase in the very foggy conditions, one of which Paul rated, it scored 10 4/16 DS!

Mark was seen leaving the joke shop recently one would have suspected he purchased a two headed coin for next years hunt! Really well done guys as the quality game that they have rated with TT is awesome and I’m sure the latest bit of footage will also impress the viewers when it is released from BigMaxy Productions sometime in the future!

Congratulations Mark & Paul Southwell!

News 28/03/07

Our new TT Members, Antonito Lara and Predrag Novakovic worked very hard last year and it payed off, they have rated two Rusa stags. Antonio’s scored a respectable 144 7/8 DS and Predrag’s fine stag scored went 182 DS, well done guys!

Also James Warne is moving up the later in the goat ratings as his formidable journey to take down a monster Billy is on track, this time in 50 degree heat he stoped an excellent pure black Billy of 111 6/8 DS, well done James!

Mark Southwell’s second Fallow Buck from 06 has netted him another fine trophy over the magic 200DS mark, and he also has taken advantage of the exemption period while TT was dormant to have all his other fine deer rated with TT these include two fine chital, 143 DP and 116 DS and his best Rusa which scored 187 6/8 DS, well done Mark!

Not be left out Mark Wills (not like he’s ever left out of the ratings) has also taken advantage of the exemption period, and rated a really nice Sambar stag which went 160 5/8 DS, and fine 36 3/4 DS Banteng, well done Mark!

Trophy Takers Douglas Scoring Training Seminar (Deer) 2007

To welcome in the New Year, T.T. has run a deer measures course, a refresher for some but it was run mainly to add some more depth into the ever expanding numbers of bowhunter’s that battle their skills against this very elusive animal.

Their was a gathering of some very experienced deer hunters, who kindly shared their knowledge and time so that the members and future up and coming deer hunters will all now benefit from their commitment to TT

A big thankyou must go out to Mark and Karen Ballard!

All enjoyed the two day course, which brought all up to scratch on the current Norman Douglas scoring system for deer and they all are now qualified TT measures for the organization, well done guys!
The new measures that now can rate deer for TT are:

Mark Southwell
Mark Wills
Peter Morphett
Jarrod Vyner
Shannon James
Anthony Clarkson
Dale furze
Mick Kernaghan

Please check out the measures page to check which region a TT measurer is in so you we can arrange to have your trophies scored.

Note: Don’t forget that there is a 2 year exemption on mounted heads (when TT was dormant) so don’t forget to have these done before the time frame runs out!
