Boy what can we say other than this must be Trevor Willis’s year, he has just recently returned from another trip with Mick Baker for Rusa this time and Trevor has done it again the 35”+ stag was called into only 3m when Trevor placed one of his favoured 3 blade muzzy in his chest to bring the big Stag down within 40-50m! Trevor really didn’t know what he had until later when all the tape came out and all the numbers with some extra basal snags scored him another Australian record, what and purple patch you have been in mate defiantly some unbelievable luck and skill to take two records in one year! All at TT and its friends congratulate you mate one this once in a life time achievement, well achievements, we are wondering now what’s next!

New Australian record Red Stag!

A new Australian record Red Stag has finally hit the books, Adam Greentree as most would know has taken the biggest Red Stag in Aus with a bow, the massive beast was taken after a few days of cat and mouse in the hills and was finally taken at 20-25 odd metres as the big Stag stood from his wallow to a deceiving hind call from Adam, the 358 4/8DS will take some time to beat we think, and Adam’s luck had not all been used up taking another 40”+ Red Stag a day or so later that scored over 310+, now that one truly amazing hunt and two amazing trophies, all at TT congratulate you Adam on your achievements!

Jim Craze has taken his best Fallow buck to date at close quarters, the big bodied Buck was coaxed in to roughly 10 or so yards before Jim dispatched him with one arrow! The 224 6/8DS Buck was Jim best for 2011 in the pre rut, so congratulations Jim!

James Warne has rated the two Fallow bucks he took this year while hunting with Mark Southwell, the first is a very nice and even chocolate Buck taken at 25m, while he and James played cat a mouse around a small patch of bush until Warne finally got a clear shot and took out the 204+ Buck, nice one mate! An his second Buck proves a real love crazed Buck will come to anything at the right time of the rut as the boys were setup in a gully in the middle of the day thought they would try call in a fox so they pulled out the scotch predator call and had just given it a couple of wraps and from a distance here comes this nice Buck keen as mustard heading to them flat chat, James was in the best position as the buck came into range that was just to irresistible for James to let go and took the Buck out at about 5 yards! The back later scored 180+DS, some great experiences and some great trophies there James, awesome effort!

Pete Morphett has finally got a Sambar Stag on the deck, after taking a quick opportunity in a very short window of opportunity to get and shot at an extended range with his latest Franken bow creation the Z-Roid, at a Stag in the very, very early morning light, he secured the big bodied stag only after a relatively short tracking job to secure the 121 4/8DS Stag, and he was and still is a happy man, as he has not only joined the ratings of this very elusive club but also gets the monkey of his back, after only having two opportunities in 5 years to finally get a decent shot, well done Pete awesome effort!

Shane Dupille has been hammering the local Fox population over the past half a year with his trusty Badlands recurve and as usual has taken many a great trophies but also has taken plenty of great pictures to boot, the foxes he has rated of late score from high to the low 10’s and are well worth taking a look at in the ratings, again Shane awesome effort and some absolutely great pictures of you trophies also, well done!

News 10/06/11

Kith Hill rated to fine Boars he took with his trusty recurve, the 25 6/8 DS and 24 6/8 DS Boars were taken at close range, while on a trip to the cape back in 2010, congratulations Keith on two fine trophies!

Brian Newton Joined Trophy Takers with two very big Billies, the two were taken on a guided hunt with Wayne Preece. 127 2/8DS and 122DS goats were taken with Brian’s new Mathews Monster bow, Brian also rated and very good Fox and feral Cat at he took in 2009 and 2010, so check them out in the ratings for their scores and congratulations Brain on some very good trophies and welcome to TT!

Pete Morphett had a bit a shocker there this year, but without going into to many details he managed to down a decent buck, this buck has a bit of character about him and Pete stalked to 43m before he dropped and 2 blade Rage into his chest sealing the deal, nice one Pete!

New Australian Record Chital Stag taken!

Trevor Willis has knocked off reigning Chital expert and previous record holder Paul Southwell and has taken the largest Chital recorded in Australia with a bow and single arrow, on the last morning of a 6 day Chital hunt with Mick Baker!
Trevor was on a roll this trip taking 2 other Chital Stags, during the week, but the last ditch effort on very wet hunt paid off, after and long stalk the very patient hunter, Trevor crawled past and another big Stag (within 30m) that would have been as big but for its excessive spread, Trevor took the 45m shot after waiting for the beaded group of stags to stand after they caught a slight bit of unfamiliar sent and stood to give Trevor the shot in the long grass. The Muzzy tipped arrow brought the big 196 1/8 DS Stag down with the same distance and the rest is history! Congratulations from all at TT Trevor on such a magnificent trophy one you will never forget! But wait there's more on his return trip home and in the usual stages of the scouting for the fallow rut of 2011 Trevor has also managed to down and magnificent Sambar Stag from 55m, again a single arrow and a bit of a long wait making sure the arrow had done its job before tracking the Stag some 80m to secure the big bodied stag that scored 159 4/8 DS, again congratulations Trevor, an awesome effort and the luck was defiantly on your side so far this year!

Mark Southwell has knocked off one truly big Fallow buck this 2011 rut, the very mature red common buck was taken from 35m, while he was keeping in check a small harem of does, all the while with Marks video camera rolled in the back ground to capture all of the 250 5/8 DS final moments! Mark is one happy camper indeed as to be expected, and on initial judging of the head, he thought a conservative high 220DS earlier on in the long 4 hour stalk and waiting game, so when he was about to draw on the truly massive buck, I don’t think there was much buck fever, which is defiantly better frame of mine than having some big number to have in your mind when it comes down the crunch I guess, congratulations Mark the PB Buck and for being the first one to crack the 250+, all at TT sure know you have worked hard for such and awesome trophy mate!

Rory Smith has taken his best Buck to date, the very heavy an wide palmed Buck with awesome guard tines was taken and 48m with a single arrow out of his 80# PSE Oman, the big 235 4/8 DS Buck has been on Rory’s hit list for two years now, and this year was the best time to take the big fella as he was in his prime and supporting the biggest set or antlers Rory has seen, congratulations Rory he is a real cracker of a buck!

Shane Dupille has taken his best Fallow buck to date with a 30m downhill broadside shot with a 60lb Ballard recurve, custom Manual Agues arrow with black stump at the business end. The Buck was the first one grunting in the early morning light, which saw Shane use the his new 3D camo, to fool a doe close by to stop and check him out as her suitor was total oblivious to the potential danger, and Shane did the rest as the Buck thought he was in with a chance as the doe had stopped moving but all he copped was a razor sharp arrow, the buck only travel a short distance before going down, and Shane had his 194 DS Buck, congratulations Shane sounds like a top hunt!

Leigh Gragg shot his PB 200 1/8 DS fallow Buck from 15 yards front on as he came up a pad to his doe call on way back to a scrape, and Leigh’s very nice 273 1/8 DS Red Stag was taken from 20 metres as it stood in its wallow after Lee got him to stand to a hind call. Nice effort mate, well done!

Wally Parker joined TT with a 92 5/8 DS Billy he took with trusty old Darton Maverick at 30m after taking out a couple of his mates first, the Billy only traveled a short distance like the others before him and fell further that he actually ran, nice shooting mate and congratulations and welcome to Trophy Takers!

Stay tuned there’s more to come!
